Overview

Web Design & Development Project Overview

SECON Group is a holding company in Esterhazy with six operating businesses under it — construction, mining services, mechanical, industrial contracting, equipment. The awkward part of that shape is that nobody hires a holding company. They hire the one that does earthworks, or the one that does mine maintenance, and they usually do not know which of the six that is.

So the parent site is built as a directory rather than a brochure. Each of the six is a record in its own right with a page to match, sitting beside sections for projects, industries served, and the group-level material that only makes sense at the top — careers across all six, Indigenous engagement, health and safety. Five of those six companies have their own websites, which we also built. This one exists to answer the question the others cannot: what else is under here, and who should the phone call go to?

Deep Dive

What actually went into SECON Group’s build, decision by decision — and the service behind each one.

    Nobody hires a holding company

A general contractor needs earthworks. They search for earthworks. They do not search for the parent corporation that owns the company that owns the trucks. The group site's whole job is to route that person down one level as fast as possible, which is why six companies are six records with six pages rather than six logos in a row.

Careers is the page that pays for the site

In industrial construction the constraint is people, not work. A postings page that covers all six companies at once means one applicant sees every opening in the group instead of guessing which subsidiary is hiring. It sits at the group level because that is the only level where the answer is complete, and it is updated more often than anything else here.

Two sections that are not marketing

Indigenous engagement and health and safety each get their own place. On resource-sector work these are prequalification documents — somebody on a procurement team opens them before price is discussed, and they need a URL that can be pasted into an email. Burying either inside an About page costs contracts, quietly, in a way nobody reports back.

    Six companies, one house style

The sites were built to share a visual language on purpose, so a contractor moving from one to the next recognises where they are. That is easier to promise than to hold: five sites, built across four years, drift apart unless somebody keeps deciding they shouldn't. Consistency across a network is maintenance work, not a design decision made once.

In their words
Wendy I. — SECON Group★★★★★

SECON Group of Companies began our journey with Becker in 2023, when Bryn took on the ambitious task of developing not just one, but five company websites. From the start, he invested the time to meet directly with each of our business leads, ensuring he understood the unique identifiers of every company.

The results speak for themselves—each website is distinct, showcasing the individuality of our businesses so they truly stand apart. Bryn brings fresh ideas, creates engaging content, and presents information in clear, concise paragraphs paired with compelling imagery that draws readers in. His attention to detail shines through in every aspect of the final product.

And then there’s his service—the area where many companies falter, but where Becker truly excels. Bryn’s ongoing support is why he continues to manage all our websites. He proactively addresses issues, suggests creative enhancements, and delivers updates with incredible turnaround times. Our sites are never stagnant.

We highly recommend working with Becker. We know a company website is a significant investment, which is why having the right external partner on your team makes all the difference—and for us, that partner is definitely Bryn.
