Overview

Web Design & Development Project Overview

South East Construction is a multi-trade industrial and maintenance contractor out of Esterhazy — potash country, where the work is measured in shutdowns and turnarounds rather than in buildings. Its site was the first one we built for what became the SECON Group, at the end of 2021, before there was a group of websites to be part of.

The organising idea was simple and has held up: services and projects are two halves of the same argument, so they are two structures that point at each other. A service page says what SEC does; the projects attached to it say where. Industries sit above both, because a mine and a grain terminal ask for the same trades in very different conditions. Everything else on the site — the about section, the safety material, the careers page — hangs off that spine.

Deep Dive

What actually went into South East Construction’s build, decision by decision — and the service behind each one.

    The one that came first

Late 2021, one company, one site. Fourteen months later the same owners bought three more in a single order, priced against the two that already existed. Nobody plans a five-site network at the start — you build one that works, and the second conversation is easier because the first one is standing there.

A service is a claim; a project is proof

Industrial buyers do not believe capability lists, and they are right not to. Every service on this site is wired to the jobs where it was actually used, and every job back to the services it required. So the question every industrial buyer opens with — have you done this before — gets answered on the page rather than by a phone call and a wait.

    Same trades, different ground

Welding in a potash mine and welding at a grain terminal are the same skill and an entirely different job — different permits, different shutdown windows, different people signing off. Industries got their own layer above services for that reason, so a maintenance manager can find the version of the work that matches the conditions they are working in.

    Built to be added to

A projects section is only worth building if it gets fed, and most do not. This one was set up so adding a finished job is a form, not a layout exercise — pick the services it used, drop in the photos, publish. Four years on, that is what separates a live portfolio from an archive of 2021.
