Overview

Web Design & Development Project Overview

Axiom Industries engineers system feeders, demineralizers and hydronic protection equipment out of Saskatoon, and sells it to engineers, contractors and wholesalers across North America and into Europe. The old site was a Divi build five years deep in technical debt: product data locked inside shortcodes, a half-finished online store still reachable by anyone who went looking, and a support arrangement where a request could sit in an inbox for months. Axiom wanted the product catalogue to be genuinely theirs to run.

We rebuilt the site from a clean WordPress installation with a hand-built theme, and pulled the product data out of the old system by hand so it could be rebuilt as structured content rather than page-builder markup. Products now live in their own post type with their own categories, each one carrying its technical specs and its downloadable manuals, spec sheets, brochures and CAD files. A Find a Rep directory covers every Canadian province and territory, every US state, and agencies in Europe. The site runs in English and French, on a server of ours, with a nightly copy kept in three places and somebody who picks up the phone.

The catalogue was trapped in the page builder
Five years of product information had been built inside Divi shortcodes, which meant the data only existed as markup on a page. We pulled it out by hand and rebuilt it as a real product post type with its own categories — system feeders, demineralizers, condensate management, and the rest. Adding a product is now filling in fields and pressing publish, not rebuilding a layout and hoping nothing shifts.

Reps listed the way buyers actually look for them
Nobody searching for an Axiom agent thinks in terms of a company directory. They think about where they are. The Find a Rep page opens on a single province and state selector covering all thirteen Canadian provinces and territories, all fifty US states, and agencies in Europe — pick your patch, get the agency, the address, the phone number and the salesperson's own email.

The store that got left behind on purpose
The US side of the old online store could take an order right up to the credit card and then refuse it. Six months of back-and-forth hadn't fixed it, and e-commerce was never a meaningful share of Axiom's business, so the decision was to stop paying for the problem. The rebuild simply didn't carry it across — the store, and the plugin stack propping it up, stayed behind.

French that goes all the way down
The old site had a language switch, and behind it a French version that trailed off partway — some pages translated, plenty not, menus and captions left in English. The rebuild treats both languages as the same site rather than two sites kept loosely in step, and the French that had already been checked by a human was carried across rather than thrown away and redone.

Locked out of your own website
Before the rebuild, Axiom's team could be shut out of their own admin by a security plugin having a bad day, while their allowance of design hours quietly went on plugin updates and email about a request took two days to come back. The arrangement now is the ordinary one: they change their own products and documents whenever they like, and anything structural comes to us and gets done that day.

The entire experience of developing a website with Bryn has been nothing short of great.

We actually had a website previously, but we opted to develop a new and improved website through Bryn due to a number of reasons. Needless to say, Bryn took everything we liked about our old website and just made everything better. The new website looks better, is much faster, and super easy to make any changes in WordPress. This all has to do with how Bryn built the website. I don’t know a lot about website design, but everything is built from the ground up in a way that just “works” and can easily be built upon.
