Overview

Web Design & Development Project Overview

Citylife Investment Corp is two businesses wearing one name. It is a commercial landlord with sixty properties, and it is a holding company with nine operating businesses under it — paving, roofing, autobody, industrial supply, a pizza chain. A single homepage cannot serve a tenant looking for eight thousand square feet on Circle Drive and a supplier trying to work out who owns what.

So the site runs two parallel structures. Every property has its own page carrying the numbers a leasing decision actually turns on — building size, land size, unit count, year built, zoning, current tenants — across Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta and Arizona. Every company has its own page too, with an outbound link to its own website. Two of those companies, Fastener Warehouse and Vern’s Pizza, are entries in this portfolio, which means the parent’s directory and the operating companies’ own sites were all built here.

Deep Dive

What actually went into Citylife Investment Corp’s build, decision by decision — and the service behind each one.

    Sixty addresses, sixty pages

Nobody looking for commercial space searches for a landlord. They search for a street, a neighbourhood, a square footage, a zoning class. Sixty properties each got their own page for that reason alone — one address, one URL, one set of numbers — instead of sixty rows in a PDF that Google cannot read and a tenant cannot link to.

The numbers are fields, not sentences

Property type. Building size. Units. Year built. Land size. Zoning. Current tenants. All of it lives in a field on the property record, filled in from a spreadsheet, which is why the sixtieth listing reads exactly like the first and why the whole set can be sorted and re-cut later. Write them as prose and the set drifts within a year.

A holding company is a directory problem

Nine operating businesses — among them paving, spray foam roofing, autobody, industrial supply, staging, cutlery, a pizza chain. Each has a page explaining what it does and a link out to its own site. That structure exists because the question people arrive with is not "what does Citylife do", it is "who owns that", and the answer needs somewhere to live.

Two of the tenants are also our clients

Fastener Warehouse and Vern's Pizza both sit in the parent company's directory, and both have their own websites listed here in this portfolio. The parent's directory page links out to a site we built, from a site we built. Work tends to arrive that way — one relationship, then the businesses inside it, over years rather than at once.
