Overview

Web Design & Development Project Overview

Axis Vac & HDD does hydrovac excavation and horizontal directional drilling for clients across the West — the job of getting under a road without digging it up, and of exposing buried utilities without hitting them. It is skilled, invisible work with an unusually visible fleet, and the site takes its colour palette straight off the trucks, which are the most recognisable thing the company owns.

Underneath that, the structure is built for how this work is actually bought. Each service — hydrovac, directional drilling, telecom, excavation — has its own page rather than sharing a capabilities list, and each links through to projects where it was used. A safety section carries the policies and certifications, because on utility work a contractor’s safety record is checked before its pricing is discussed. It runs on managed hosting, and it carries one of the featured proof stories on our WordPress management page.

Deep Dive

What actually went into Axis Vac & HDD’s build, decision by decision — and the service behind each one.

The trucks were already the brand

Axis owns a fleet of hydrovac units that are the most visible thing about the company — people who could not name the business recognise the trucks on the highway. Pulling the site's palette off that livery meant the website inherited recognition the company had already paid for, which beats inventing a new visual identity nobody has seen.

Four services, not one capability list

Hydrovac, horizontal directional drilling, telecom, excavation. A utility contractor needing daylighting on a gas line is not the same buyer as a telecom crew needing a bore under a street. Four pages, four sets of terms, four ways in — because a single "our services" page makes every one of those buyers do the sorting themselves.

    Safety gets checked before price

On utility and municipal work, a contractor's safety culture, policies and certifications are reviewed before anybody discusses a rate. That material was given somewhere of its own instead of one paragraph tucked under About. The person reading it is doing a job rather than browsing, and needs it findable and forwardable.

The service page points at the job

Each service links out to jobs where it was genuinely used; each job names the services it called for. It is the same wiring we build for industrial clients everywhere, and it works for the same reason: a capability is a claim, and the job down the road is the evidence.

Bryn was a pleasure to deal with while updating Axis’ website. He had great ideas and was able to bring Axis’ website to a whole new level. Any changes and updates are done pretty much as soon as an email is sent to him. Our website turned out amazing and we can’t thank Bryn enough! I would recommend Becker Designs and Media to anyone who wants a great website!
