Web Design & Development Project Overview

Getting a commercial licence is a decision somebody makes in a specific town. A person in Yorkton looking at a career change doesn’t search “Saskatchewan truck driver training” — they search Yorkton, because the first thing they need to know is whether this is a thing they can do without moving. Overdrive has eight location pages for exactly that reason: Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert, Lloydminster, Swift Current, Yorkton, North Battleford and Moose Jaw, each one addressable on its own, not a bullet on a service-area list.

The courses sit alongside as their own entries — Class 1A MELT, Class 3A, Air Brake, and professional driver evaluations — so the second question gets answered as directly as the first.

Then the application form does something most contact forms don’t: it asks the questions the office would otherwise spend a phone call asking. Current class of licence, whether the medical’s been done, whether the SGI written test is behind you, what you’re driving now, and whether there’s anything about how you learn or how you move that the instructors should know. By the time Lori picks up the phone, there’s a file.

Payments, financing and grants share one page, because for most people applying they’re one question. Enrolled students get a password-protected area for course materials. And there’s a photo gallery, because somebody about to commit a chunk of time and a serious amount of money to a training course wants a look at the place before they sign anything.

A licence gets decided in one town

Somebody in Yorkton thinking about a career change doesn't search for Saskatchewan truck driver training. They search Yorkton, because the first thing they need to know is whether this is possible without moving house. So eight towns are addressed one at a time — Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert, Lloydminster, Swift Current, Yorkton, North Battleford and Moose Jaw — one page apiece, not eight bullets buried on a service-area list.

The form asks what the phone call would ask

Current class of licence. Whether the commercial driver's medical is done. Whether the SGI written test is behind you. What you're driving now, what you want out of it, when you're free, and whether there's anything about how you learn or how you move that the instructors should know. Most contact forms ask for a name and a message. This one starts a file.

Enrolled students get their own door

Course materials sit behind a password rather than out in the open. That reads as a minor detail right up until you notice what it guards — the actual teaching content of a business whose product is teaching. Students get in with one shared key instead of individual accounts nobody wants to administer. The right amount of security for the problem, and no more.
