A band’s website loses to Spotify, and it should stop trying to win. Nobody discovers a rock trio by browsing their homepage. The people who go looking for one on purpose are bookers, promoters, festival programmers and the occasional journalist, and all four want the same short list of things in the same three minutes.
So W3APONS got one page, dark, with everything on it: the music, the videos, the photographs somebody can actually pull for a listing, and the dates. No menu to navigate, no about page nobody reads, no news feed to go stale between tours. A Saskatoon three-piece playing rock does not need a content management strategy. It needs a page that loads fast on a phone backstage.
The build was funded in part by a Creative Saskatchewan grant, which is worth saying out loud, because it’s the kind of thing other Saskatchewan artists reading this portfolio might not have thought to ask about.
