Overview

Web Design & Development Project Overview

Deb Murdoch brokers mortgages out of Saskatoon and, like most brokers, does most of her work for people who are nowhere near her office. The old site already ranked; the brief was to keep that and build properly underneath it, which meant the rebuild had to be careful in ways a fresh build never has to be.

The centre of it is ten service-area pages, one per town — Saskatoon, Regina, Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Swift Current, Lloydminster, North Battleford, Outlook, Martensville, Warman. Each one is written from scratch rather than spun, and each carries its own contact form so an enquiry arrives already labelled with where it came from. Around that sit individual service pages, mortgage calculators and rate tools as their own structure, and roughly forty old blog posts carried across by hand rather than abandoned, because a decade of accumulated pages is exactly the thing a rebuild usually throws away by accident.

Deep Dive

What actually went into DM Mortgage Broker’s build, decision by decision — and the service behind each one.

  • 01

Put the service in the address

The town pages are not filed under the town. They are filed under what somebody is looking for in that town — mortgage brokers, then the place. A page named for a city alone is competing with the city's tourism board and its newspaper. A page named for the job in the city is competing with three other brokers, which is a fight worth having.

    Ten towns, not fifty

Saskatoon, Regina, Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Swift Current, Lloydminster, North Battleford, Outlook, Martensville, Warman. That list is a real service radius, not an ambition — which is why each page could be written properly instead of spun. Ten pages somebody stands behind will always outperform fifty nobody can defend.

The form tells you where it came from

Every town page has its own contact form, and each one arrives tagged with the page that sent it. That single detail turns a set of landing pages from an act of faith into something measurable: after six months the record says which towns actually produce clients, and the next round of effort goes there instead of everywhere.

Forty old posts nobody wanted to lose

Roughly forty blog posts from the previous site were carried across by hand. Most rebuilds drop them, and the drop is invisible until the rankings that were quietly resting on them go too. Old content is not sentimental — it is accumulated authority, and moving it costs an afternoon against years to rebuild.

In their words
DM — DM Mortgage Broker★★★★★

Becker Design & Media Group Ltd is fantastic to work with. It has met all of my expectations and has exceeded some as well. I reached out to Bryn with a request for a website that would reflect me. I was very specific in what I was looking for and he nailed it. He provided a quote very quickly and it was excellent. The timeline was set and he exceeded. Also when I selected Becker Design, I was looking for someone that I could talk to on the phone and would have direct access. I am extremely happy with my new website and the support I get. I would highly recommend Bryn (Becker Design & Media Group Ltd).
