Web Design & Development Project Overview

West Kootenay Skin Clinic and Renew MediSpa were two businesses. They are now one practice on Cedar Avenue in Trail, a town of about six thousand people that serves a region many times its size — physician-led dermatology and medical aesthetics on one side, spa services on the other, under a single roof and a single name. The website had to make that read as one clinic rather than a merger that never quite finished.

Twenty-nine treatments are written up one by one, sorted into injectables, dermatology, laser and microneedling, and spa. Alongside them sits a separate route organised by condition rather than by treatment, because a patient usually knows what is bothering them and not what fixes it. Booking and gift cards run through the clinic’s own scheduling platform rather than anything we built, which keeps one calendar instead of two. A gallery, testimonials, financing and policies fill in the questions people ask before they book.

Deep Dive

What actually went into WKSkinClinic’s build, decision by decision — and the service behind each one.

  • 01

Two clinics that had to read as one

A skin clinic and a medspa, previously separate, now operating as one practice from one address. The risk in a merge like this is a website that quietly stays two websites — two tones, two menus, treatments filed by which business used to own them. The structure ignores the old boundary entirely and sorts by what a patient is actually looking for, so nothing on the site reveals where the seam used to be.

Patients know the problem, not the procedure

Someone bothered by rosacea does not search for the laser that treats it. So Conditions sits beside Treatments as a route of equal weight rather than buried inside it — one path for people who know what they want, one for people who only know what is wrong. Two ways into the same set of pages, because the two visitors arrive with completely different vocabulary.

Twenty-nine treatments, each with somewhere to live

Injectables, dermatology, laser and microneedling, spa. Twenty-nine individual treatment pages is a lot of surface to keep accurate as products change and new devices arrive, so each is a record the clinic edits itself rather than a block of text buried in a longer page. Adding a treatment is adding an entry, not rebuilding a menu.

    One calendar, not two

Booking and gift cards both run through the scheduling platform the clinic already uses, instead of anything custom on the website. Worth stating plainly, because it was a deliberate choice: a second booking system would mean a second calendar, a second place for staff to check, and a guaranteed day when the two disagree about whether four o'clock is free.

A town of six thousand, a region much bigger

The clinic is in Trail, British Columbia, population around six thousand, and draws from across the West Kootenay. That geography changes what the site is for — this is not a walk-past business, and nearly everyone arrives having searched first, often from another town, deciding whether the drive is worth it. The site is built for that decision rather than for local recognition it already has.
